VBS - - Vacation Bible School

From , former About.com Guide

Focus and Goals of Vacation Bible School:

Vacation Bible School offers kids a chance to experience God's Word in a creative and fun way. Many companies publish Vacation Bible School curricula which are generally theme-based, week-long programs presented in a camp-like manner.

Age Level:

Pre-kindergarten and younger children, through pre-teen. Some Vacation Bible School curricula also offer programs for teens and adult.

Activities:

Common to most Vacation Bible School programs are Bible memory verses and Bible stories with theme-based crafts, songs and other activities to reinforce the Bible story and lesson being taught.

Vacation Bible School is often held in the evenings or on weekends.

Find a Vacation Bible School:

If you attend a church you may find a Vacation Bible School being offered there. Otherwise, look around your neighborhood (I see a lot of banners announcing VBS) or check your local phone book or the internet for a list of churches in your area.

Why Vacation Bible School?:

Pros:

  • Kids learn God's word
  • Kids have the opportunity to experience their faith in unique ways along with friends
Cons:
  • None
