6 Junior Girl Scouts and 8 Brownie Girl Scouts from my troop went camping at the Council's camp site. We stayed in open air cabins. The Girls learned some new skills while they earned badges, cooked outdoors, and played games. Of course, we had s'mores around the campfire. The campsite, located on an old southern rice plantation, is gorgeous. Some of the old buildings are used as camping cabins. Unfortunately, the plantation house itself is no longer accessible for safety reasons. A favorite "haunt" on the grounds is the Doll House -- a small house where the little girl played with her dolls. Many of the dolls are still in place where she left them. Girl Scouts pass on many spooky stories about the Doll House. The bravest of my girls went for a walk around it at night. Everyone had a lot of fun and the girls, Brownies and Juniors alike, are looking forward to going back for more camping next year. These Girl Scout camping pictures were taken by my co-leader and my daughter.
