When you're signing your child up for a team, there are several things you'll want to consider. Denise Witmer, About.com's Guide to Adolescents, recently wrote an article entitled How to Get Your Teen Ready for Their Sports Season. She includes many tips such as seeing your child's doctor, checking their equipment and discussing homework schedules that apply to younger children as well as teens.

Vincent Iannelli, About.com's Guide to Pediatrics has an article on Youth Sports discussing the benefits of exercise for children. He also provides some tips on getting kids interested.

Sports can be one of the great adventures of childhood. Kid have fun, learn to lose (and win) gracefully, develop skills, and make friends. Preparing your child can help ensure he gets the most out of his sports experience.
