Little League World Series -- Semifinal Results, Championship Games

Friday August 24, 2007

I finally got a chance to watch a bit of the Little League World Series. Very impressive! I can't believe the way these boys play. I saw pitches at 60 and 65 mph, plays in the field that were spectacular and base running and stealing that looked nearly pro to me. These boys have worked hard for the honor of being in Pennsylvania this week.

Today was reserved in case they had rain-outs, so the boys have a rest to prepare for the Championship Games. Results of yesterday's games and the teams that moved on are:

International:
  • Japan beat Taipei 4 to 3 in a game that went 10 innings -- overtime in big leagues, but way overtime in the Little League where official games are 6 innings.
  • Curacao beat Venezuela 4 to 2 in 7 innings.

  • Japan (representing Japan) and Curacao (representing the Caribbean) will meet in the International Championship. The game will be played at 12:30pm EST on Saturday, 24 August and will be broadcast live on ABC.
United States:
  • Lubbock, Texas beat Lake Oswego, Oregon 8 to 2.
  • Warner Robins, Georgia beat Chandler, Arizona 16 to 6.

  • Lubbock, Texas (representing the Southwest) and Warner Robins, Georgia (representing the Southeast) will meet in the United States Championship. The game will be played at 3:30pm EST on Saturday, 24 August and will be broadcast live on ABC.
I end this post with one more thought:
GO TEAMS!
