RBI World Series Championships
While pretty much everyone has heard of the Little League World Series, another league and another group of kids have been competing in another World Series event. The RBI World Series. RBI, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, began in 1989 and is the cooperative effort of Major League Baseball and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Each year more than 120,000 children who otherwise might not play are provided the opportunity to participate in baseball and softball.
The RBI World Series concluded this week with the Atlanta Girls winning their 7th consecutive title. Philadelphia took the Senior Boys (16-18 year olds) title and Detroit won the Junior Boys (13-15 years old) division.
