Play Ball -- Little League World Series Begins

Opening ceremonies, today at noon, will welcome the teams, families and fans to the 2007 Little League World series, which will culminate with the World Series Championship on Sunday, August 26.

The 16 regional teams are divided into 4 pools: 2 United States and 2 International.

  • Pool A: New England, Northwest, Southeast, Great Lakes
  • Pool B: Mid-Atlantic, West, Southwest, Midwest
  • Pool C: Caribbean, Japan, Canada, Transatlantic
  • Pool D: Mexico, Asia-Pacific, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa),Latin America

During the next 5 days, each team will play the other 3 teams in their pool. The top 2 teams in each pool advance to the semifinals.

The first four of these games will follow the opening ceremonies today:

  • Great Lakes vs. New England at 2pm
  • Caribbean vs. Japan at 4pm
  • Latin America vs. Asia-Pacific at 6mp
  • Southeast vs. Northwest at 8pm

If you'd like to watch the kids play, the games will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2.
