K-Kids Meet Their Pen Pals

Wednesday May 2, 2007

K-Kids at Jackson Elementary School in Manitowoc have been participating in a pen pal program with residents of Laurel Grove Assisted Living. The children are paired with senior citizens living at the facility. Each child-senior pair write letters about nearly everything. The kids share their experiences with school, sports and the like while the seniors are able to tell the kids more about life 50 years ago.

Recently, several of the children involved in the program visited the assisted living facility and met their pen pals face to face. The children enjoy learning from their senior pals, and the seniors look forward to receiving letters from the children.
